Get away from it all, just outside Paris

Paris is on your doorstep, as the Maison de l’Abbaye is under 20 minutes from the heart of the capital. If you are an amateur of green spaces and calm, the magnificent neighbouring Parc de Sceaux holds the promise of beautiful promenades on foot or on bicycle. You may also stroll round the streets of the town centre and, enjoy the bustling Antony Grand Market, held several times a week and reputed for its diversity. You should also know that the Maison de l’Abbaye has a secret, which you will discover below…

Chapel

At the hotel

Formerly a Marianist school, the Maison de l’Abbaye still hosts a small community of brethren and has the particularity of a small chapel which you may use if you wish.

Religious ceremonies are practiced every day at 7:00 and 18:15.

Parc de Sceaux

10 minutes on foot

Designed by André Le Nôtre at the end of the 17th century, the Parc de Sceaux is a green space of 181 hectares, stretching over the municipalities of Sceaux and Antony. You can visit the Château de Sceaux which was built between 1856 and 1862. Since 1937, it has hosted the collections of the Île-de-France museum.

The park is open to the public every day from dawn till dusk. It also includes several pavilions and an orangery.

The largest area of parkland in the Hauts-de-Seine département, each year the Parc de Sceaux is the venue for a number of events, such as the Japanese spring festival of Hanami, and the nocturnal ball, from June onwards, called “les petites nuits de Sceaux”, etc.

The park lies only a short distance from the Maison de l’Abbaye.

Maison de Chateaubriand

20 minutes by car

The departmental museum known as the Maison de Chateaubriand is situated in the Vallée-aux-Loups, a property in Châtenay-Malabry, in the heart of Aulnay valley. You can take in the temporary exhibitions, watch shows and attend conferences, but also enjoy a guided tour of the place.

The house also holds a library devoted to Chateaubriand, 19th century France and Romanticism.

After a tour of the Chateaubriand property, you may continue your stroll in the Vallée-aux-Loups 13.5-hectare arboretum to admire the remarkable trees from the long-established Croux nursery. You will find it at the end of the lane as you come out of the Maison de Chateaubriand.

Antony Market

5 minutes on foot

Open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 7:30 to 13:30, the market in Antony is the largest in the department with more than 200 widely diverse retailers. Alongside foodstuffs, you will find second-hand books, florists, etc. So don’t hesitate to wander round the aisles and take in the different stands.

At under 5 minutes from the hotel on foot, the market also proposes animation all year round, such as the Week of taste or the Christmas festivities.
